How to update firmware on HG series generators

This article explains how to update the firmware on your HG series generator.

Connecting the generator to a PC

  1. HG BASIC / HG PRO

    Use a USB-A to USB-B cable (connected to position 5) or USB-A to RS-232 (connected to position 6).

Updating the firmware

  1. Run the "Firmware-Multi-MB-H2-Vxxxx.exe" firmware updater to update the main board. 
  2. The firmware updater should automatically find and connect to the generator and update it. At the end, if the updater tool has completed all tasks but the generator doesn't reboot or go into Standby, wait 5 minutes then restart the generator.
  3. Run the "Firmware-Multi-LCD-H2-Vxxxx.exe" firmware updater to update the LCD.
  4. The firmware updater should automatically find and connect to the generator and update it. At the end, if the updater tool has completed all tasks but the generator doesn't reboot or go into Standby, wait 5 minutes then restart the generator.
  5. Enter the Menu, navigate to Diagnostics and confirm the LCD Rel. and Mainboard Rel. values match the release version in the updater tools (Vxxxx).
